A confession...

My FAVORITE website!

So this week I had a duh moment...and realized I needed to make a confession. I'm addicted to wasting my time.

I love to waste my time. Not literally, I just never seem to have enough hours in my day! But what do I spend all of those hours doing? Things that may not exactly be pushing me in the direction I would like my life to go. Not just big things, but the little things...like sending an extra text message, sitting aimlessly on my computer...you name it. Just imagine...If I was able to spend all of the time I am doing nothing, doing something? Just imagine all of the projects that could be finished!

Every time I am surfing through Ravelry (or any other website for that matter) I always make the excuse that I'm inspiring myself. Truth be told, I have more than enough inspiration to fuel me for the next 10 years. I always find myself longing to knit beautiful things that I see on ravelry only to remember that knitting lace is a feat I have yet to accomplish and that I have crocheting skills that knitters envy. As much as I love to crochet, knitting is different and has an excitement that every “new” craft has to me.

While I love knitting and how different it is from crochet, it is a slow craft for me. Sleeves that I could crochet in a few hours take me days...sometimes weeks! Socks? Let's not go there. I have started many...and end up with “second something syndrome” before I'm even done with half of the first one (not that I've finished a crocheted sock either...)! Knitting to me isn't relaxing...it's something I have to work at. So knitters who just zip up and down your rows...you're lucky!

Holden Shawlette, my new project!

Despite the downfalls that knitting has for me, I'm going to carry on and start my new-years shawlette! I decided I wanted to tackle a project that would be challenging to me, yet seemed easy enough for me to finish. The yarn I'm using was purchased in Chicago this summer at one of my favorite yarn shops that went out of business :( Go support your LYS...I don't know what I'd do without mine!!

Ok...I think I'll get off of my soap box now. Maybe if I quit wasting my time on my computer and actually got my work done I could knit more often and actually give it the opportunity to become a relaxing past time. Then I can grow a second pair of arms so I can knit and crochet at the same time ;) Just Kidding! Unless you can give me a pair by the time baby arrives in July...can you get back to me on that one? :)

Have you found a way to make your days more productive? I'm thinking about restricting my computer time to strictly productive tasks and bringing my total computer time down. I've never tried figuring out exactly how much time I'm on my phone an computer everyday...but I don't think I'd want to know the number!

Happy Crocheting!
