I don't believe that I've posted anything about my latest surprise...my first published piece of writing! Back last December, I wrote to Kim Werker (Interweave Crochet's editor) on her website CrochetMe, introducing myself, and asking about her job, etc. We wrote back and forth a bit, and she asked me if I'd write for Interweave Crochet! She said having the perspective of a teenage crocheter would be very fresh and exciting. That was the very beginning of my article that is now in print in the Fall 2008 Interweave Crochet Magazine.
This past Saturday, my mom and I traveled 430 miles from my home in Wisconsin to Lansing, Michigan for a very special event...The Interweave Crochet Magazine Fall 2008 issue launch party at Threadbear fiber art studio. Some of the biggest highlights of my day were meeting my two new best friends, Kim Werker, editor in chief of Interweave Crochet, and Sandi Wiseheart, editor of Knitting Daily-Interweave's online knitting publication. There was a trunk show of all of the garments featured in the brand new issue of Interweave Crochet, which everyone was allowed to try on. My mom and I had lots of fun trying on all the different kinds of beautiful crocheted clothing that the magazine offers. I learned so much from these two insightful women, that I'll be doing a 2 week series on everything that I learned! I'll also post a picture of some of the things I tried on at the launch party for your enjoyment.
Here is a picture of myself with Sandi Wiseheart
Me with Kim Werker!! I can't wait for my next opportunity to see her!
Congratulations, I am so excited for you. What an honor.
