Look...Broomstick Lace!

The last few days I've started working through my Craftsy beyond broomstick lace class! In our first lesson we went over making a little glasses case. The actual pattern called for using a smaller hook (oops) and a bamboo yarn. Me being me, I went totally against those guidelines and used a wool/acyrlic yarn. I think I've decided not to block my project as suggested. If I did, I could probably fit a hand gun in my glasses case! I took some pictures in the process of making my case so you all could see...I am actually doing it!

I've found that broomstick lace is kind of like a mix of knitting and crochet. You pull up loops one row and then crochet them off. In the Class, Jennifer Hansen asks you to do a scary thing...Pull the needle out of all of those loops. While it is a nerve wrecking thing to do, it's a bit of advice that is so essential! It's little things like that I find make classes so valuable.

Here is my case all finished, just waiting for it's button! I was able to whip this up pretty quickly and I feel so good about it! The recommendation for the case is to line it as well, but I'm skipping that step since usually my sunglasses are just helter skelter in my purse anyway :)

All finished! I added a vintage shank button I had in my collection...I believe it came from my Great-Aunt Chris! It is sparkly and exactly what my sequin yarn wanted :)

Also...for your viewing pleasure! I visited my family yesterday! They adopted 2 homeless sister kittens a month or two ago and they are the SWEETEST things ever! They take great pictures!

The grey kitty is Mocha, and her sister is Latte! I love those little girls. They make my old man kitty (Ambrose) look like a really old man.
