Inspired: Creating a Block-a-Day

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday we got a good 4-5 inches of snow, so I spent a good portion of my day on the computer and crocheting.

In my adventures across the internet I came across a crochet blog where the lady was blogging about making this beautiful granny square afghan! She was simply making one block every day. No more, no less. I LOVE granny square afghans but if you were to ask me...I think making 10 granny squares in a row is the boring-est thing on earth. No offence if you love making granny squares obsessively. It's just not my thing! But 1 a day? That's manageable!

If you follow my Facebook page, you may have seen this picture I shared a while ago.

This woman has crocheted over 536 hexagons!!!!!! I can't even imagine it! Maybe I'd need to do 2 a day if I wanted to make one of these ;)

I really love following pages on facebook, pinboards on pinterest and crochet blogs because inspiration doesn't just have to be for designing. One can be inspired to do anything...blog every day for a month, crochet a block for a year, you name it. Is it just me though, or is it hard to find motivation to do some things without the inspiration driving you? That's my humble opinion.

One of the greatest periods of inspiration in my life was when I challenged myself to NaMoCroMo back in November of 2011. It was a challenge where I crocheted a new motif every day for a month and blogged about it. I don't think I ever missed one day. By the end of it, I really looked forward to blogging every day, and what my next motif would look like! The Pleiades Shawl swatch actually came from NaMoCroMo!

Look familiar? :)

I also have another shawl that is completed, waiting patiently for a photoshoot and pattern writing that came from NaMoCroMo as well. It's on my list of things to complete before Spring!

That is all I've got for you today! I'm going to spend the rest of my day pattern writing and chart making! A new pattern will be in testing phase soon!

Happy Crocheting!
Chelsea
