How to Crochet a Hat Part 4

Today's hat is the same basic hat pattern as the others that you have viewed, but the special feature of this hat is the face that is crocheted and applied. Our model is fond of a little blue train engine. We used the color of Thomas (medium blue) as the main color and trimmed the lower edge in black. Black curly Qs adorned the top of the hat and the same light grey as the face is used in the chain loops at the top to give the curly Qs dimension. The smile was slip stitched onto the grey circle. The eyes have a shank on the back and were sewn onto the grey circle. Then the circle was stitched onto the hat with a tapestry needle and grey yarn.
