Hello!
I have been busy taking care of my new puppy this past week, so I haven't had a ton of time to work on posting!
About 2 weesk ago now, I competed in the National Make it With Wool Contest with a trench coat I crocheted back in August for our state contest. I didn't place, but my roommate who I shared a bed with, got top honors! I'm already planning next years outfit, but I'm going to have to decide alot. I think'll be entering two different things, since I've gotten a big head start on my Sweater Coat from Crochet Today's November/December '07 issue. I think I'm also going to do an outfit based around this Textured Cardi from the current Crochet Today issue. All I need to get started are some improved sewing skills, and the wool! The sweater coat is being made from wool that we were given from my mom's good friend, and we washed it, and over dyed some of it orange. The wool's natural color is brown, and the orange compliments it really beautifully! We had it carded into roving after it was washed, and had a copper mylar added to it. Folks, I tell you, this is going to be the most gorgeous coat I have ever made! You can't really see the mylar unless it's in the right light, and then it has the most beautiful shimmery effect. To go under the coat, I think I'm going to make a cream color top. I'm not sure what kind of bottoms I'm going to make for either of the garments yet. I'll take some pictures of my WIP's, so you can see them.
I'm also in the designing stages of a hooded capelet that will be felted. I have to do all of the work for it yet, but it will be coming soon!
For all those in the Midwest, have a great snow day!
And those everywhere else, happy crocheting!
Chelsea
