Hey Everyone!
Today you'll have two posts for your reading pleasure!
First, I am going to explain how to read a crochet pattern.
I know many beginning crocheters have troubles reading patterns they would like to make. Although it may seem like a daunting task at first, it is really quite simple! And before you know it, you'll be reading patterns very fluently.
So, assuming you know your basic crochet sititchs, the list is:
Chain(s) - ch(s)
Slip Stitch - sl st
Single Crochet - sc
Half Double Crochet - hdc
Double Crochet - dc
Treble Crochet - trc
Then some of the longer terms have abbreviations too, which can get confusing...
Beginning - Beg
Stitch(s) - st(s)
Round - rnd
Hook - hk
I hope my explaination of how to read a crochet pattern helps you, especially if you don't have a more advanced crocheter as a mentor.
Have you checked out my new crochet website? You can find it at knit and crochet hat patterns.
Happy Crocheting!
Chelesea
